Ecuador and Senegal meet in the Group A final with the winner securing a place in the round of 16.
The tie will also see off Ecuador, although that will complicate matters for Senegal, who will need to hope Qatar somehow beats the Netherlands in their next Group A game.
Both teams have performed strongly in the group stage so far, with Ecuador winning the match against Qatar in the opening match and holding European powerhouse Netherlands to a 1-1 draw. Ecuador’s forward Ener Valencia has scored all three goals and is at the top of the scoring table.
African champions Senegal are playing without injured captain Sadio Mane, but they still played the Netherlands close in their opener, conceding two late goals to drop their opener. But they pulled into contention for a place in the knockouts with a 3-1 win against Qatar.

90th min+6: One last chance for Ecuador?
90th minute+4: A dangerous free-kick from Ecuador is deflected towards the far post. Piero Hincapie gets a finger at it and complains that he’s being held back, but Clement Turpin isn’t interested.
90th minute+3: Ecuador corner. Gonzalo Plata turned it left-footed and Eduard Mendy clawed in the other corner. Nothing will come of it.
90th minute: There will be six minutes of added time. Ecuador’s Pervis Estupinan comes down the left and puts a good ball into the box, but neither teammate can get on the end of it.
89th minute: Time is ticking away for Ecuador, who are struggling to generate any forward momentum.
82nd minute: Chance for Senegal. Good skill from Youssef Sabali to slip the ball to Boule Dia, who turns well and lets it fly with his right foot, but it goes wide of the right post. Off!
76th minute: Ecuador need a goal now or face elimination from the World Cup. Gonzalo Plata finally struggles to get control of the ball in the box before the shot goes wide, but that doesn’t bother Edward Mendy.
70th minute: And Senegal are ahead! Idrissa Gueye curled in a superb free-kick from the right flank, the ball fell to Kalidou Koulibaly and the Chelsea defender headed home the keeper into the far corner with his right foot. Excellent finish!

60th minute: Idrissa Gueye caught the eye in the Senegal midfield today and the Everton player whipped into the area with a good free-kick, but Ecuador made it clear,
57th minute: Half chance for Ecuador. Brighton’s Pervis Estupinan gets down the left and curls in a decent cross. That Michael Estrada gets his head. But he can’t get enough power into it and sees it wide open.
54th minute: Inner Valencia, the tournament’s joint top marksman and scorer in Ecuador’s last six World Cups, was barely audible today. Another ball forward stayed away from La Tri’s main man.
52nd minute: Senegal is getting more men behind the ball, leaving only Boulaye Dia in front of himself. They seem happy to give Ecuador the ball and play on the counter-attack.
48th minute: More news from other matches in this group. With the help of Frankie de Jong, the Netherlands beat Qatar 2-0. So Senegal knows that a win is absolutely essential for them to qualify. A draw would be enough for Ecuador.

24th minute: Pape Gueye is putting in the biggest change for Senegal so far. The Marseille man wins the ball on the left touchline and feeds Ismaila Sir. Sir cuts in on his right foot and tries a curler to the far corner, but it’s wide. The Lions of Teranga have already scored four good tries.
20th minute: Ayrton Preciado lands heavily and is in some discomfort after an aerial challenge. There’s a pause while the Ecuadorian man gets some treatment, but it looks like he’s fine to continue.
18th minute: Idrissa Gueye works hard to win Senegal a corner. It’s a good delivery into the box but Ecuador keeper Hernán Galindez punches hard.
13th minute: End to end of stuff in these opening exchanges. Elliman Ndiaye, the first called up to the Senegal side today, sends a ball across the face of goal that doesn’t find the taker. Moments later the Sheffield United forward cut inside onto his left foot but curled his effort wide of the far post.
10th minute: Ener Valencia first chance to add to his tally for Ecuador. The free-kick is a long way and his effort hits the wall. It rebounds off the striker, but his follow-up shot is also blocked.
