USA vs England Final Score, Results, Highlights: USMNT earns impressive World Cup points with goalless draw

The United States produced a powerful performance against England, ranked No. 5 in the world, but failed to score as the two teams drew 0-0 in Group B of the World Cup.

It was a high-quality performance from Greg Berhalter, led by Weston McKenney and Yunus Musah in midfield. Christian Pulisic was pulling the strings up front, and hit the crossbar with a laser-guided shot in the first half, but couldn’t find a winner.

England manager Gareth Southgate will have questions to ask about his midfield going forward in the final against Wales, and the personnel involved in attack will also be discussed. Harry Kane had a chance to win the game at the death, but a header scored.

The USA now have a clear objective in the final group game – win, and you’re in. For England, only one point is needed against Wales to progress to the knockout stage.

USA vs England as it happened, 2022 World Cup highlights

Full time: USA 0-0 England
wow What an exciting game, and in the end, the points were shared. It’s a valuable point for both sides, and while fans will be disappointed not to get a goal from their massive pressure, it’s still an impressive performance from the USA overall.

Berhalter will again get questions about his replacement, but overall, America brought it to England today, and did everything but score.

90+4 min: The USA will take a free-kick with the last action of the game… it’s down the line for Gio Reyna, it goes out of play… and that’s the final whistle. Total rubbish at the end.

90+2 mins: Chance, England! With four minutes of stoppage time to play, Jack Grealish intercepted Walker Zimmerman’s pass through the middle and Yunus Musah was fouled to concede the set-piece. It’s a dangerous moment for England at the death, and they’re in no rush to take…

Luke Shaw to deliver… and Kane heads wide! It was a free header, and he completely ruins it! Harry Kane beats Tim Ream, and the ball comes over his head and it goes well wide. That match was there for England to win, but the chance was gone.

89th minute: In one of the most amazing stretches of play you’ll ever see, started by Matt Turner who took out two England attackers outside his penalty area, Brendan Aaronson found Shaq Moore, whose cutback from the right was cleared. The United States is unloading the kitchen sink to find a target in it.

85th minute: England has a dangerous set piece, and it’s a great curling out-swinger, but Tim Ream gets to it first to clear, and then Christian Pulisic is fouled to clear the threat. It will be a thrilling finish to the game, can both sides win?

82nd minute: American fans cheering for Gio Reyna will get their wish. Tim Weah led the way as Borussia Dortmund’s youngsters took to the field. Josh Sargent also makes his first appearance with Haji written off.

80th minute: United sends the ball down the right for Tim Weah, and it takes a great tackle from Harry Maguire to stop the counter. He comes up holding the back of his left leg. He has been huge for England today, and that would be a worrying injury.

77th minute: After a long stretch of play, the U.S. can finally make a substitution as Brendan Aaronson comes on for Weston McKenney. It has been a sensational performance from McKenney, who has been spent and will be saved for the all-important Iran game. Shaq Moore also comes in as expected for Sargino Dest.

Marcus Rashford comes on for Bukayo Saka for England.

74th minute: Jack Grealish has turned the game completely on its head, and England are beginning to regain their ascendancy. Looks like the American players are starting to get tired. Brenden Aarsonson is set to get a moment on the touchline, possibly for Weston McKenney, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Sergino Deust replace him at some point soon.

70th minute: Jack Grealish’s first touch is a beauty, weaving his way through the defenders into the top-left corner of the penalty area, and Weston McKenney puts in a dangerous tackle, but Grealish gets away with it. With England looking to regain their footing in this game, Greg Berhalter will have to answer at some point.

68th minute: A substitution is finally made from England. It’s Jordan Henderson and Jack Grealish for Jude Bellingham and Raheem Sterling. Phil Foden’s absence remains a mystery.

65th minute: Jordan Henderson is being prepared by Gareth Southgate. The England boss wants to shore up a midfield that is falling apart. Henderson did not play the opener against Iran in his third World Cup.

59th minute: The U.S. earns a corner, and Christian Pulisic, who was terrific with set-piece delivery against Wales, puts a superb ball in at the far post. Walker Zimmerman gets a free, but it’s cleared before the US centre-back gets there. The United States picked up where they left off in the first half.

He puts in two more excellent deliveries from the corner, but Harry Maguire is there to clear them both. Manchester United’s center-back has been big today.

53rd minute: Tim Weah takes a really big challenge from Luke Shaw who goes over the ball and goes into Weah’s shin with his stud. Not even a whistle was blown for a foul. It should be at least a yellow card, and maybe even a red card. Somehow, VAR doesn’t intervene. Again really poor officiating.

49th minute: Chance, USA! Weston McKenney gets another chance! A sensational tackle by Anthony Robinson springs a counter, and Haji Wright ends up in front of the net. His right-footed rip is blocked, but the ball falls to McKenney outside the top-right corner of the penalty area. He takes aim and sends the ball to row Z.

46th minute: Second half underway. The United States looked the better side in the first half, but both teams were dangerous at times. With Greg Berhalter needing to show he can coach on the fly in the second half, now is as good a time as any for American fans.

There were no changes to either team at halftime. Weston McKenney was a different player in the first half, a welcome sight for American fans. He is on a yellow card, though, and will need to be careful in the second half.

Halftime: USA 0-0 England
Halftime: Mason Mount We’re all at halftime. on both sides.

Halftime: Former US international and current ESPN analyst Taylor Twellman thinks about what Greg Berhalter should do at halftime.

Halftime whistle: In the opening 45 minutes, England was well beaten in the run of play by the US, but the US couldn’t find the opener to cash in. It’s a big let off for the European team and Gareth Southgate. Brakes should be changed.

Greg Berhalter was taken off the coach by Wales head man Rob Page in the second half of their World Cup opener, unable to react in time for their halftime substitution. Can he do better now against Southgate’s changes?

45+1 min: Chance, England! Matt Turner saves from the Mason Mount! This is England’s best chance of the half, as Mount takes aim from outside the penalty area with no one in his way, but Turner gets down to block the effort. Big moment for him in his first official save of the half.

45th minute: England finally takes a dangerous lead, and Luke Shaw notches Sergino Dest for the opener. Raheem Sterling meets the horizontal ball but he cuts and fires well wide and over. It was an extremely tight angle for the shot, a very low percentage attempt.

A minute of stoppage time is shown on the electronic board, which is nothing compared to what we’ve seen so far in this tournament.

43rd minute: Chance, USA! Now Pulisic goes wide with a header! This is relentless pressure from the United States, but again they fail to cash in.

41st minute: USA continues to be the better attacking team. Sergino Dest now advances into the box and takes a rip, but it is deflected for a corner by Harry Maguire. The pressure from the North American underdogs is relentless.

Pulisic’s corner delivery is good, but there is little to meet it. A unique set-piece from America there

36th minute: It’s a half-chance for England when Raheem Sterling flicks his backheel goal-ward with an audacious effort, but Walker Zimmerman saves it. That would be amazing.

Christian Pulisic almost put England to sleep when Matt Turner’s deep kick found the American winger streaking on the counter, but John Stones does enough to push it out for a throw. Great intent, and brilliant delivery from the Arsenal goalkeeper.

33rd minute: Chance, USA! Pulisic off the crossbar! Younus Musah and Weston McKenney have both been involved in the build-up, and the Chelsea man rips a straight hammering laser into the woodwork. America has been the better attacking side in the last 15 minutes but has nothing to show for it. Canada looked bright early against Belgium a few days ago but was punished for a lack of finishing, the US could suffer a similar fate if they don’t cash in quickly.

31st minute: Younus Musah is brought down by John Stones in transition, and goes away. Tyler Adams is pleading for a yellow card, but the Venezuelan referee won’t go into his pocket. Weston McKenney, moments later, was whistled for a soft foul.

The American players showed significant frustration with the officiating in the draw with Wales, for good reason, and they are increasingly so today.

29th minute: The USMNT are feeling it now as Yunus Musah hits from deep. It’s a good effort, but it takes a deflection off the hands of Jordan Pickford. England is shocked to see America’s intention to attack.

26th minute: Chance, USA! Dhatterika! That should be in the back of the net! Weston McKenney has a great chance to open the scoring, but he blasts it over the bar!

Tim Weah’s excellent cross down the right finds the Juventus midfielder unmarked in the penalty spot, but he leans back and is in the air with the goal gaping. The best chance of the game for both sides, and it goes begging. You can’t miss those opportunities against the No. 5 team in the world.

20th minute: Younis Musah’s great tackle in midfield starts a good American attacking move that feels dangerous, but a cross from the right from Sergino Dest goes straight into the waiting arms of Jordan Pickford. It’s a very promising counter but ends with poor delivery.

17th minute: Chance, USA! The first real chance for the US comes from Haji Wright on a cross from deep, but his effort is a really high level of difficulty and goes wide. He was under a lot of pressure from the England defenders. It would have been a fantastic effort to get that even in the frame.

13th minute: England now adding to their possession dominance. Anthony Robinson is excellent defensively on the left against Bukayo Saka, but the Arsenal man also looks dangerous. That’s a big fight soon.

10th minute: Chance, England! It’s very close to the opener! A sharp move from Bukayo Saka opens up the American defense, and he turns it into the penalty spot for Harry Kane. Only an essential Walker Zimmerman block kept the chance out, an early warning shot from the European side.

9th minute: Haji Wright and Judd Bellingham collide on the ball. Both are slow to get up, but neither stops the whistle, so they both pick themselves up off the turf.

7th minute: Gareth Southgate can be heard shouting at his players about the American system. This has caught many people off guard. The US had more of the ball here in the early going, with both teams applying relatively high pressure out of possession.

The US is doing its best to stop Declan Rice from getting the ball in England’s build-up. From the ball, the two strikers are pinching centrally to force the England defenders to push wide instead.

No more action than before. It feels like there is a lot of opposition from both sides.

2nd minute: USA is, interestingly, playing a 4-4-2, which is very different from what Greg Berhalter has done in the past. Maybe like a 4-4-1-1 on the ball. Berhalter has been very loyal to the 4-3-3 in the last two years of his tenure. Today, it’s Haji Wright in front with Tim Weah.

1st minute: We’re off! England vs USA from the 2022 World Cup on Black Friday in USA!

9 minutes to kickoff: Minutes before this big game, England striker Harry Kane tells Fox’s Tom Rinaldi that he is interested in becoming an NFL kicker after his football career is over. Could it be? He might even come back and play a game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium!

England vs USA Live Stream, TV Channel

On paper, the Americans are equal on paper with a star-studded English team that flexed its muscles in a lopsided 6-2 win over Iran. But the U.S. has never lost to England at the World Cup, winning and drawing their only two matches at this stage.

Team USA will go into Al Beit Stadium as underdogs with a chip on their shoulder, but also because it needs any point it can muster after letting a win against Wales slip from its grasp. England can book a place in the knockouts – and possibly more than a first place – with a win

Here’s how you can see all the action in the major global regions.
