Actor Jeremy Renner broke more than 30 bones in his body when he was run over by a snowplow earlier this month, he said in an Instagram post on Saturday.
“You all have so much love and admiration,” said Reiner, 52, who plays superhero Hawkeye in Marvel’s “Avengers” and stars in the Paramount+ crime thriller series “Mayor of Kingstown.”
“More than 30 of these broken bones will mend, become stronger, as love and bonds with family and friends deepen.”
Reiner was plowing snow for a neighbor near his home in Reno, Nevada, when he was struck by a piston bully snowplow weighing at least 7 tons, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said at a news conference shortly after the crash on New Year’s Day.
Tara had gone to talk to a family member when the snow plow started rolling toward him, Balaam said, adding that he ran over as Reiner tried to get into the driver’s seat to stop it.
Neighbors helped as he waited 40 minutes for first responders to arrive at the scene due to weather conditions, Balaam said.
Reiner suffered blunt force trauma to the chest and orthopedic injuries, his representative Sam Mast said at the time, adding that Reiner was in critical but stable condition while being treated in the ICU.
After more than two weeks in the hospital, Reiner said he was back home Wednesday in response to a tweet from “The Mayor of Kingstown,” the official account promoting Season 2.
“With my brain fog out of recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 at home with my family,” he said.
The two-time Oscar-nominated actor had previously posted pictures and videos on Instagram of himself standing next to a snowplow and driving through snowy terrain in a Jeep.
