In connection with the county prosecutors’ investigation into intentions to rig the Georgia 2020 election, Rudy Giuliani has turned himself in to be arrested in Atlanta.
As part of the extensive racketeering indictment unveiled last week, Giuliani, a well-known proponent of bogus accusations that the election had been stolen from former President Donald Trump, is charged with 13 felonies.
When serving as a federal prosecutor, the former mayor of New York City primarily relied on the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations law to seek charges; he is currently a defendant in a RICO prosecution.
The indictment has been referred to by Giuliani as “an affront to American democracy.”
Giuliani spoke to reporters, including CBS News, before departing for Atlanta on Wednesday: “I’m feeling very, excellent about it because I feel I’m protecting the rights of all Americans, as I did so repeatedly as a United States attorney.”
Giuliani singled up Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, who worked on the Fulton County 2020 election, among his disproved fraud charges. The two, who launched a defamation action against Giuliani for these claims, have recently acknowledged in a court document that Giuliani made false comments about them.
Other defendants have also turned themselves up to Fulton County law enforcement. According to Trump, he will be arrested in Atlanta on Thursday.
