Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns, one of the league’s top running backs, suffered a horrific knee injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night that is predicted to terminate his season, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
According to Rapoport, Chubb is thought to have ruptured multiple ligaments. Kevin Stefanski, the head coach of the Browns, revealed on Monday night that Chubb would be out for the season, although he did not comment on which ligaments were injured. On Tuesday, Chubb is anticipated to have an MRI test.
Nick obviously has a serious knee injury, which makes you feel bad for the player, Stefanski remarked following the game. “He’s a fantastic football player, as we all know, but he’s also a fantastic human being. We shall therefore be there for him every step of the way.
Chubb’s left knee turned inside after being struck low by Steelers defender Minkah Fitzpatrick during a carry in the second quarter. Before being attended to by medical personnel, then taken away and swiftly ruled out of the game, Chubb quickly clutched his leg. Because of how gory the play was, there was no replay on the Monday Night Football broadcast.
At Acrisure Stadium, the Steelers faithful enthusiastically yelled “Chubb” as the running back, who was obviously upset, was led off the field.
During his time at Georgia, Chubb previously tore the PCL, MCL, and LCL in his left knee. He had the same knee injury on Monday.
Chubb, a four-time Pro Bowler who has four straight seasons with 1,000 yards of rushing, is an example of sustained brilliance. With 106 yards on the ground against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1 and 64 yards on 10 attempts on Monday, the 27-year-old was well on his way to another impressive season.
Running back Jerome Ford entered the game after Chubb left and snagged a 3-yard touchdown pass. Ford had 16 carries for 106 yards, the most of which came on a 69-yard run, in addition to the touchdown reception. Ford and other players will need to make additional significant contributions for Cleveland to even come close to replacing the void left by Chubb, who has never missed more than four games in a single NFL season.
Since his rookie season in 2018, Chubb has been Cleveland’s engine, a quiet destroyer on the field. Despite his reserved demeanor, Chubb is highly regarded in the Browns’ locker room and actually throughout the league, as shown by the response on social media after his injury. It will be extremely difficult for the Browns to move on without Chubb because it is safe to say that Cleveland needs to recover from two losses on Monday night.
