There are several Latin Grammy Award nominees this year, including Bad Bunny, Shakira, Rosala, and Karol G. The awards ceremony, which is now in its 24th year will take place at the Conference & Exhibition Centre in Sevilla, Spain on Thursday, November 16, will be hosted outside of the United States for the first time. Here is a list of all the nominees.
Rosalá’s “Despechá,” Karol G’s “Mientras Me Curo del Cora,” and Shakira’s collaboration with Bizarrap are among the songs up for Record of the Year. In the Song of the Year category, “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” which also had two nominations for Karol G’s “TQG” and Shakira’s own “Acróstico,” received another nod. Along with being nominated for Song of the Year, Best Urban/Fusion Performance, and Best Urban Song, “TQG” is also up for Album of the Year, Best Reggaeton Performance, and Best Urban Music Album. Karol G is also nominated in these categories.
Due to his guest spots on Grupo Frontera’s “Un X100to” (Song of the Year, Best Regional Song), Eladio Carrión’s “Coco Chanel” (Best Rap/Hip Hop Song), and Arcángel’s “La Jumpa” (Best Urban Fusion/Performance, Best Urban Song), Bad Bunny has received a number of nominations this year. The song “Ella Baila Sola” by Pedro Julian Tovar Oceguera, as performed by Peso Pluma and Eslabon Armado, is nominated for two songwriting honors: Song of the Year and Best Regional Song.
The Latin Recording Academy stated in February that it had been coordinating with Andaluca authorities to move the program, and Sevilla, the province’s capital, was suggested as a potential host city. According to reports, the three-year pact calls for a wide range of programming, including new Acoustic Sessions records, a Latin Grammy Week, and undefined “philanthropic activities.”
Best Singer-Songwriter Song, Best Songwriter of the Year, and Best Portuguese-Language Urban Performance are three new categories that the LRA has introduced to the Latin Grammys for 2023, after the Recording Academy’s recent opening up of the competition for the general Grammys. The Latin Recording Person of the Year for this year is Italian vocalist Laura Pausini, while the Lifetime Achievement Awards go to Carmen Linares, Arturo Sandoval, Mijares, Soda Stereo, Simone, and Ana Torroja.
At the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, the Latin Grammy Awards were held the previous year. Rauw Alejandro, Karol G, Anitta, Christina Aguilera, and other artists performed there. In addition to playing “Hentai” and “La Fama,” Rosala won other prizes for Motomami, including Album of the Year, Best Engineered Album, Best Alternative Music Album, and Best Recording Package. When she won the Grammy for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Music Album in February, she added another victory to her collection.
