Dwyane Wade is speaking candidly about one of the most trying periods of his life, claiming he almost divorced Gabrielle Union after she discovered he was pregnant with another woman.
During his segment on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast this week, the Miami Heat legend—who fathered his 9-year-old son, Xavier, with Aja Metoyer during a break in his relationship with Union in 2013—drew attention to his mental struggles with the situation and said the couple still struggles with it today.
Wade admitted that “it hasn’t been perfect.” It’ll never be ideal. We attend and have received therapy. We’ve yelled about it and had frequent conversations about it. It’s something I’ll have to continue to work on and put effort into.
Wade said he thought about severing his relationship with Union in order to avoid facing the consequences, but he’s grateful she didn’t give up on their relationship.

Wade, who wed Union in 2014, said he couldn’t have survived the choppy waters without her, but he also made it clear he felt bad for his son, who will always have to deal with the story.
