Due to police activity at the Downtown Berkeley station on Friday, the Redline Service for BART was momentarily discontinued. Around 3:00 p.m., train service was resumed.

According to James Allison, a BART media spokesperson, a suspect in a robbery entered the trackway between the Downtown Berkeley and North Berkeley BART stations around 1:48 p.m. In order for authorities to safely take the person into arrest, BART stopped all train service between the two Berkeley stations.

The incident was resolved, Allison stated, and regular train service has resumed. No casualties were reported.

More information will appear in BART’s police log, which will be made public at 9 a.m. on Saturday, if the suspect is taken into custody, he added.
