According to his presidential campaign, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his group were unharmed following an automobile accident they were engaged in on Tuesday in Tennessee.

“The governor was involved in an automobile accident this morning on the way to an event in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Bryan Griffin, his press secretary, claimed in a statement that neither he nor his team had any injuries. We are grateful for the nation’s prayers and good wishes for his continuing safety while campaigning.

According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the 44-year-old Republican presidential candidate was supposed to take part in a fundraiser on Tuesday in Chattanooga.

The initial campaign statement omitted crucial information regarding the collision, such as how it happened and the number of parties or vehicles involved. The Chattanooga Police Department later in the morning released a statement stating that “a female staffer suffered a minor injury but carried on the event and received medical care there,” and the campaign then added some more information. It said that it spoke with the staff member and she confirmed she is unharmed after being evaluated by medical personnel on site and given the all-clear to leave. It did not identify the staff member.

According to the police, only DeSantis’ four-vehicle motorcade was involved in the “crash” on I-75 South near East Brainerd Road. The accident was reported to police at roughly 8:15 a.m.

According to the police statement, “the motorcade coming up on slow traffic and the lead car had to brake quickly, resulting in a rear-end collision involving the other vehicles.” “Governor DeSantis and his team were traveling to their scheduled event in government vehicles, which were all involved in the incident.”

DeSantis has been campaigning since his crew was reorganized earlier this month. The 2024 candidate, who was trailing former President Donald Trump in the polls, let go of about a dozen employees and was about to let go of more.
