
Billy Miller, an actor from “The Young and the Restless” and “General Hospital,” who won a Daytime Emmy, passed away on Friday in Austin, Texas. He was 43.
Miller’s manager provided Variety with a statement on Sunday, the day before the actor would have turned 44, confirming the news.
According to the statement, the actor was battling manic depression at the time of his death.
Miller was raised in Grand Prairie, Texas, where he was born on September 17, 1979. He struggled with Tarsal coalition, a rare illness that impacted the cartilage in his ankles, throughout his childhood.
His entry into the entertainment business began when Wilhelmina signed him as a model. From 2007 to 2008, he portrayed Richie Novak in the serial opera “All My Children.” Miller later switched to “The Young and the Restless” to play Billy Abbott.
Miller won three Daytime Emmys for his work on “The Young and the Restless,” including two for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. 2014 saw him leave the soap opera and join “General Hospital.”
Miller played Jason Morgan and Drew Cain on “General Hospital,” where he appeared as a series regular until 2019 before appearing in five episodes of “Suits”.
Additional appearances on “NCIS,” “The Rookie,” “Truth Be Told,” “Major Crimes,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Castle,” and “Enormous” are among his other credits. He also appeared in the 2014 war thriller “American Sniper” starring Clint Eastwood and the 2016 TV movie drama “Urban Cowboy” with Nathalie Kelley.
In addition to his mother Patricia, nephew Grayson, sister Megan, brother-in-law Ronnie, and niece Charley, Miller is also survived by his sister Megan.
