Arizona Diamondbacks’ close NLCS Game 3 victory against the Philadelphia Phillies reduces their series lead

To avoid falling behind 0-3 in the National League Championship Series (NLCS), the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 3 on Thursday.

Ketel Marte made a crucial play to preserve a 2-1 victory for the Diamondbacks in Phoenix during a tense game in which they were in danger of suffering yet another loss.

Bryce Harper’s run on a Ryan Thompson wild pitch gave the Phillies the lead in the top of the seventh, but Arizona rallied to tie the game in the bottom half following Alek Thomas’ RBI double from Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

It set up an anxious ninth inning, but the Diamondbacks could count on Marte to be composed when it counted.

The batter hit a walk-off single off Craig Kimbrel with the bases loaded, setting off wild celebrations at Chase Field.

Marte has now hit in each of his last 12 playoff games, a streak that began in 2017, making him one of just six players in MLB history to do so.

According to the MLB website, first baseman Christian Walker told reporters that Marte had been doing it for the team all season.

I’ve been observing this man perform this activity for the past four or five years. It comes as no surprise. He has one of the strongest swings I’ve ever seen. When to let it fly, he knows.

He is aware of when to back off and throw one into the outfield. He carries it out every day.

Now, all eyes will be on Game 4 on Friday. The Diamondbacks will attempt to use Game 3 as a springboard to even up the NLCS after the Phillies appeared unbeatable earlier in the series.
