A day before the Cleveland Browns’ Week 4 game against the Ravens, David Njoku revealed the depth of the burn burns he sustained in a home incident. The photographs also revealed a lot about Njoku’s tenacity.
Njoku, who sustained the wounds in a fire pit accident and was wearing a mask as he entered the stadium before the game, posted a selfie on Instagram on Wednesday showing the full extent of the injury. One word served as his caption: “Legacy.”
Njoku gets praise for participating in that game, especially considering that his six receptions and 46 receiving yards, which fell two yards short of his season-high, put him in the lead among Browns receivers.
He was labeled as questionable before the game due to concerns about his ability to even wear a helmet.
He should also be commended for using his accident to start a philanthropic endeavor. He started a line of goods called “Withstand,” and a portion of the sales will go to the American Burn Association.
In Week 13, Njoku hopes to participate in the NFL’s “My Cause, My Cleats” campaign by wearing cleats to promote the ABA and survivors of severe burn-related situations.
In the statement, he stated, “I want to use my platform to assist draw notice to an all too widespread issue. “The medical professionals at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center were crucial to my recuperation, and I will always be appreciative of their knowledge and kindness. My goal in collaborating with the ABA is to help burn victims and their families by offering resources and assistance.
