Bryan Randall, Sandra Bullock’s lifelong companion, passed away at the age of 57 after battling ALS.
His family confirmed his passing in an Aug. 7 statement to NBC News.
Bryan Randall lost his battle with ALS peacefully on August 5 after a three-year fight, according to a statement from his family.
Bryan made the decision early on to keep his ALS journey private, and those of us who cared for him tried our best to comply with his wishes.
In the statement, it was stated that Randall’s family is “immensely grateful” to the group of medical professionals who have assisted him over the years, “a lot sacrificing their own lives to be with ours.”
“At this time, we ask for privacy to grieve & to come to terms of the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan,” the statement’s final line read.
ALS, according to the Mayo Clinic, is “a nervous system disease which impacts nerve cells in the brain & spinal cord.” There is presently no cure for the illness, which gets worse over time.
Before making their debut on the red carpet at the “Our Brand Is Crisis” premiere in Los Angeles in October of that year, the two began dating and were photographed together for a number of months.
Bullock’s agents would go on to refute persistent claims that the pair were wed or engaged throughout the years.
After a public divorce from motorcycle manufacturer and “Monster Garage” host Jesse James in 2010, “The Proposal” actress came out about her decision not to remarry during an episode of “Red Table Talk” in November 2021.
“The divorce process was something I experienced. She declared at the time, “I discovered the love of my life. “We have three children together—two of them are ours, including his older daughter. The absolute best thing ever. I don’t want to tell you to do things the way I do, but you don’t need a paper to be a committed mother and partner.
Bullock adopted her second child, Laila, who was then 3 years old, in 2015, not long after she began dating Randall. Bullock adopted her first child, Louis while going through a divorce from James.
She claimed that she was a “bulldozer” in their relationship during her “Red Table Talk” interview.
We hadn’t been dating for very long when I brought up the NDA you signed when you took photos of my son. Bullock claimed Randall replied affirmatively and added that his life had “unraveled because of me.”
She then informed Randall that despite her plans to bring home another child, the nondisclosure agreement is still in effect.
Bullock said, “He was so delighted yet he was so afraid. “I am the bulldozer. My life was already headed in the correct direction when this lovely person appeared. Although he has no interest in my life, he is the ideal person to be there and assist me. He also sets the example that I would like for my children to follow.
Bullock stated that there are two alternative perspectives on the situation. He is the ideal father to be in this situation if (my kids) can learn from that and if that is where they feel driven.
While promoting “The Lost City” in March 2022, Bullock said she intended to take a break from acting.
while interviewed at the time, the 57-year-old actor said, “I take my job very seriously when I’m at work,” adding that it is a “24/7” job. And I simply want to be with my family and my kiddies all the time.
