Authorities stated that Cardi B will not be prosecuted for throwing her microphone at a concertgoer who tossed her drink at the artist.
The 30-year-old was not charged with battery in the case, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department claimed in a statement given to TODAY.com on August 3.
The statement read, “This case has been closed because of insufficient evidence after a thorough review of this case and consultation from the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.” “No charges will be brought in this case,” it states.
“On behalf of Cardi, we appreciated the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s diligent & prompt resolution of this matter,” her attorneys said.
Earlier this week, a video from the performer Drai’s Las Vegas show went viral on several social media sites.
In the footage, Cardi B was seen performing live and rapping along to her smash song “Bodak Yellow” when someone in the audience threw their drink at her. In response, the Grammy winner threw her microphone at the concertgoer.
Security jumped into the audience and removed the woman out of the audience as she appeared to yell at the individual.
Later, Cardi B addressed the issue on X, the platform that replaced Twitter, by posting a video of the altercation with her song “Jealousy” playing in the background.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department told NBC News one day after the performance that a lady had reported the event as a battery.
Despite the fact that the woman was unidentified by police, the report stated that she “was struck by an item that was thrown from the stage” at the concert.
Cardi B joined the list of musicians who have recently been the target of things hurled at them, including Harry Styles, Bebe Rexha, Kelsea Ballerini, and others.
At her New York City concert in June, Rexha was struck by a phone, which left her with a bloody and bruised eye. A hospital was used to treat the singer.
Misdemeanor charges of harassment and assault are currently being brought against the suspect, Nicolas Malvagna.
