His grandchildren are carrying on Frank Gifford’s legacy.
On Aug. 9, the eighth anniversary of her father’s passing, Cassidy Gifford paid tribute to him. She posted a throwback photo of herself from when she was a young girl with the late Frank, her mother Kathie Lee Gifford, and her brother Cody Gifford on her Instagram account.
“8 years,” Cassidy said. And even though I’ve been missing you every day, it’s been a sweet gift from the Lord to have your grandchild, who resembles you so much.
Legendary broadcaster and NFL player died in 2015. He was married to the former TODAY co-host from 1986 till his passing away.
Finn Thomas Wierda, Cassidy and Ben Wierda’s first child together, was born on June 24. She posted a picture of her baby’s little feet on Instagram to make the announcement.
“The entire planet we live in. 6.24.2023, Finn Thomas Wierda. You know, buddy, we love you so much. Thank you, Lord, for this priceless gift, she wrote in the post’s caption.
As “Bubbie” to her grandchildren, Kathie Lee referred to her daughter and son-in-law as “a wonder” in the comments section.
She commented, “The love you have for one another is so beautifully shown by the way you take care of your newborn Finn, who represents the best of both of you!” Praise be to the God of families, our loving LORD! I am so happy for you and with you that I can hardly contain myself.
Frank “Frankie” Michael Gifford, Cody’s 1-year-old kid, was born on May 31, 2022, and Kathie Lee is also his grandmother.
After Frankie was born, Kathie Lee told Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, “I knew I would come to love Frank instantly because I love kids. It’s all such a wonderful tapestry of life and creation, but this is my son’s child—my husband’s son’s kid.
Frankie was given his grandfather’s name, surprising Kathie Lee.
Kathie Lee remarked at the time, “I was shocked Cody named him after his dad since Cody knew exactly what it was like growing up in the shadow of a magnificent man. “However, I guess he’s never really gotten over, and he never will, the loss of his dad at a young age and he was and is his hero.”
The family is ecstatic to add to their brood as Cody and Erika are now expecting their second child.
