In Colorado‘s 56-14 rout of Washington State on Friday, quarterback Shedeur Sanders left the game due to injury, capping a disastrous night for the Buffaloes that eliminated any chance of participating in a bowl game this season.
The head coach Deion Sanders’ son Sanders was sacked four times, left the game twice due to injuries, and did not return to the field the second time.
Deion Sanders later stated, “He had some numbness in his hand and couldn’t really grip the ball,” per ESPN. “But after that second blow, he was simply rolled up on.” We made the decision not to send him back.
After suffering their fifth straight loss and finishing with a 4-7 overall record, the Buffaloes lost their bowl eligibility. This was a disappointing comeback for a team that had enthralled college football fans with their strong start to the season.
Sanders later said, “I’m very sad of how we played,” according to Colorado’s website. “We put in a lot of practice this past week. We prepared, and it is not representative of who we are, what we are, or how we are, to go out and give a performance like that.
After the first quarter, Colorado was down 21–7, and things only got worse in the second as the Buffaloes were unable to respond as Washington State added three more touchdowns.
Sanders continued, “That’s not the recipe for a win.” “After they removed Shedeur from the game, it was difficult going forward,” the statement reads. “They executed early and often.”
Colorado plays Utah on November 25 to end the regular season.
