Naomi, the eldest daughter of Hunter Biden, testified in court on Friday on behalf of her father, describing to the judge how her father seemed to have taken charge of his drug usage in the months before to the accusations made by the prosecution that he had lied on a government background check form.

When she visited him during a stay in rehab in Los Angeles with her then-boyfriend Peter Neal, “He just seemed so wonderful, and he appeared to be the clearest version of himself that I had seen since my uncle passed away” she said.

Hunter Biden testified that she was proud of him while wiping away tears.

After she and Neal had borrowed his truck, Naomi Biden told the court she met her father again in New York a few months later when he arrived to pick it up.

He appeared to be excellent. Regarding the visit, which took place some time after her father bought the pistol that is the subject of the prosecution against him, the younger Biden claimed, “He seemed hopeful.”

As she was being questioned by the other side, her memories became increasingly convoluted for her father’s benefit. Biden is charged with lying on a federal document regarding his drug use and unlawfully obtaining a Colt Cobra handgun. After Beau Biden’s death, he fell in love with his brother’s widow, who testified that she found the gun inside the defendant’s truck that was covered in drug “remnants” and threw it away. To three charges, Biden has entered a not guilty plea.

In an interview, President Joe Biden declared that he would not be pardoning his son, who if found guilty could get a term of up to 25 years in prison.

First lady Jill Biden, who arrived by plane from France and is scheduled to depart for Europe on Saturday, was seated behind the defendant. Following his daughter’s testimony, Hunter walked out of the courtroom holding her hand while his wife, Melissa Cohen-Biden, trailed behind.

A forensic chemist gave testimony regarding the trace of white substance discovered in the bag that contained Biden’s gun, and a drug enforcement agent told the court that texts from Hunter Biden presented by prosecutors were connected to drug use and deals before the government rested its case on Friday morning.

The judge ordered the jury home on Friday, prompting an early adjournment of court.

Naomi’s declaration

Midway through October, Hunter Biden traveled to see his daughter in New York, where she had utilized his vehicle to assist in moving her boyfriend into her apartment. Naomi Biden admitted to having some trouble coordinating with her father during his three days there, which she partly blamed to her Brooklyn commute for work. She told the court that she probably only saw her father once.

Prosecutor Leo Wise once inquired about a text conversation she had had late at night with her father, who had texted her at two in the morning asking, “Where are the keys to the truck?” and “I’ll trade cars with Peter, can he bring to 57th and 5th?” Naomi told the court that Hunter Biden had traveled to New York in Joe Biden’s Cadillac and that they were about to switch, calling her grandfather “Pop.”

“As of right now?” At the time, she had contacted her father, but he had not responded. She claimed not to have seen him use drugs.

Subsequently, Wise inquired about other texts Naomi had received from her father while he was in New York and how she appeared shocked that she was unable to get through to him.

She texted him a sad face emoji and said, “I’m really sorry, dad, I can’t take this.” “I am at a loss for words. All I want to do is spend time with you.

She added that when she picked it up and gave it back to him, she didn’t find any evidence of drugs in the car or drug paraphernalia.

Wise questioned Naomi if her father had informed her that he was meeting “someone named Franky” or that the person would be visiting his hotel room during what seemed to be a particularly painful exchange.

“I can’t recall,” she murmured.

In earlier testimony, Biden’s ex-girlfriend described to the court how she was first introduced to a man by the same name who was selling narcotics to him in New York early in their relationship.

Wiping away a tear, Naomi Biden departed the courtroom.

After lunch, the defense decided not to call James Biden, the uncle of Hunter Biden.

Resting its case, the prosecution

After presenting testimony from multiple witnesses—including Biden’s ex-girlfriend and his brother Beau’s widow—who attested to his drug usage, the government rested its case on Friday.

The star witness for the prosecution, Hallie Biden, testified on Thursday regarding Biden’s drug use and the day she remembered discovering, discarding, and then going back to hunt for his gun in the trash can where she dropped it.

Attorneys for Hunter Biden announced on Friday that they would consider whether to call their client to testify when the court reconvenes on Monday. In addition, the defense announced that it would file a formal move on Friday afternoon requesting an acquittal on the grounds that the case violates the Second Amendment.
