According to several publications, Damian Lillard, an NBA All-Star, filed for divorce from Kay’La Hanson, his wife of two years, one week after being moved from the Portland Trailblazers to the Milwaukee Bucks.

According to Willamette Week, Lillard, 33, filed in Clackamas County Circuit Court, citing “irreconcilable differences” in their relationship that caused “the irremediable breakdown of their marriage.”

The divorce petition claims that Hanson, 31, left the family’s Portland home in December 2022 while the NBA star continued to reside there, according to Willamette Week.

Prior to getting married in Santa Barbara, California, on September 4, 2021, the couple spent ten years together after meeting at Weber State University in Utah.

Son Damian Jr., 5, and twins Kalii and Kali, 2, are their three children.

Lillard and Lillard’s lawyer, Shawn Menashe, have been contacted by PEOPLE for comment.

On September 27, in a major deal involving three teams for the NBA, Lillard was traded to Milwaukee. After the deal, the Bucks organization hosted a welcome rally for him, which the athlete and the couple’s twins attended. Hanson was conspicuously missing from the party.

Lillard said that he proposed to Hanson over the 2020 NBA All-Star weekend in a 2021 interview with Ebony. “I secretly took my entire family as well as her family to Chicago. I informed her that we would be attending a brand-new NBA Valentine’s Day event. We arrived at the location, and he said, “I had a wall full of roses designed with the words ‘Will You Marry Me?'” before getting down on one knee and proposing. Then, for the big celebration, both of our families came along.

On September 4, 2021, in an outdoor ceremony, the couple exchanged vows in Montecito, California. Lillard told Ebony, “I was even more overcome with love the minute she started going down the aisle towards me.

NBA players Draymond Green, Bradley Beal, and CJ McCollum were among the famous people who attended the celebration, along with Snoop Dogg and Common, both of whom gave performances.
