The Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2 will likely demand more than the 15 points the Tennessee Titans scored in Week 1 in order to win. With receiver DeAndre Hopkins set to participate, the offense’s chances of improving significantly have never been better.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Hopkins will be on the field against the Chargers on Sunday. Hopkins missed practice all week and was listed as questionable for the game with an ankle issue.
For the Titans, Hopkins had a strong entrance. Hopkins was the main offensive threat and had seven receptions for 65 yards, but he occasionally struggled against Marshon Lattimore of the Saints’ tight coverage.
Hopkins suffered an ankle injury on his final catch, which also happened to be the Titans’ last offensive play of the game. Hopkins collapsed on the sideline and began massaging the ankle after leaving the field with a limp.
The veteran receiver Hopkins’ durability raised some questions prior to his signing. Although it was alarming to see Hopkins skip practice, it was to be expected that Hopkins, at the age of 31, would err on the side of rest if there was an ailment or chronic problem.
This is Hopkins’ eleventh NFL season. Hopkins appears to be the Titan who can still perform well even if he misses a few workouts. He must be that player on Sunday for the Titans.
In Week 1, the Chargers scored 34 points. In 2022, the Titans never managed to reach 34 points. The Titans will most likely need to score substantially more to defeat a strong offense after only scoring 15 points the previous week.
The Titans’ depth at receiver isn’t designed to survive losing one of their top two targets, Hopkins and Treylon Burks, and Hopkins will be essential to that attempt. The Titans may at least be assured that they are completely prepared at wide receiver for the offensive challenge at hand.
