There has been more speculation about whether quarterback Kirk Cousins might be available in a trade now that the Vikings are 1-4 and will likely be without wide receiver Justin Jefferson for at least four games.

Whether such a chitchat develops into something more substantial would mostly depend on the cousins. Since he has a no-trade provision, any transfer would require his consent, and there have been no indications that Cousins, who is in the final year of his deal, is considering leaving Minnesota.

On Wednesday, Cousins was questioned about the possibility of him waiving that clause in the future in order to expedite a trade with another team. The game against the Bears this coming week, according to Cousins, is the only thing on his mind right now.

According to Cousins, “You know I am just concentrating on the Bears and going 1-0 this week, as well as anything else is not worth my time, energy, or attention,” Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reported.

Even though the Vikings season seems to be going in the wrong direction, accepting a trade would require Cousins to quickly learn a new scheme while preparing for free agency this offseason. The Vikings’ requested compensation would also need to be met by any team that acquired him, and right now it doesn’t appear like anyone is available.

However, Cousins’ thoughts about sticking with Minnesota and planning his next moves for the offseason may not be affected by an injury this weekend.
