For Trump's convention, the DNC and the Biden campaign are preparing a counter-message

In an attempt to refocus attention on former president Donald Trump, Democrats are preparing a forceful display in Milwaukee during the RNC, focusing as much on the party’s nominee as it does on the party’s possible governing platform.

While the opposing party frequently tries to establish a presence in the city holding its rival convention, Democrats are keen to attack the GOP following weeks of inward self-reproach due to President Joe Biden’s dismal debate performance.

The Democratic National Committee and the Joe Biden campaign have announced that they will be putting on a six-figure paid visibility campaign in Milwaukee during the Republican National Convention. The campaign will include daily news conferences starring Democratic surrogates and citywide advertisements criticizing Trump and the conservative allies’ proposed legislation.

Over the past week, the Biden campaign has focused more on Project 2025, a policy blueprint created by the Heritage Foundation. Campaign advisors are adamant that as voters get more knowledge, they will favor Democrats across the board.

The DNC communications director, Rosemary Boeglin, released a statement saying, “If Trump thought the Milwaukee convention was “horrible,” he will not be amused when local Democrats stage a counter-convention to expose his radical Project 2025 agenda and hold him responsible for endorsing the wealthy at the expense of working families, undermining reproductive freedom, and announcing his intention to become a dictator on “day one.”” “Trump seeks to convince the American people that he is returning to his wild, deranged extremism, but Americans are wise enough to recognize dishonesty and deceit.”

Saying, “I know nothing about Project 2025,” over the weekend, Trump has disassociated himself from the initiative. I’m not sure who’s behind it. However, he is close to some of the people who worked on it, including one of the authors, Ross Vought, a former director of the Office of Management and Budget, and another adviser, John McEntee, a former senior adviser who managed a database of prospective hires during a second Trump administration.

With the DNC portraying the convention as presenting “the finest that they can provide the people of America with a convicted felon who attempted a coup,” Trump himself will also be a prominent target of the party’s efforts. “The serious threat that MAGA Republicans and Donald Trump face to our liberties, democracy, and way of life,” the party claims its counterprogramming will emphasize.

The party claims that it will place pro-Biden and anti-Trump posters on numerous city buses, mobile billboards, and billboards throughout Milwaukee. Every morning, Biden and DNC representatives will hold press conferences discussing particular aspects of the Trump program. Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey, Rep. Veronica Escobar of Texas, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms will serve as surrogates.

Additionally, a fast reaction team will be trying to draw attention to the actions of the Republican and Trump camps during and after the convention.

As calls to step down from elected Democrats and allies mount, Biden is organizing his own counterprogramming schedule for next week, which will include a mix of official and campaign events. These include a commemoration of the Voting Rights Act’s Texas anniversary and speeches to the NAACP and Unidos conventions in Las Vegas.

During her own appearance in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Vice President Kamala Harris used the opportunity to criticize the Project 2025 agenda, claiming that its implementation would “represent the most recent assault on reproductive freedom launched by Donald Trump.”
