A doctor from the Detroit region has been charged with secretly filming women and children in the hospital where he worked for six years using concealed cameras. According to the authorities, this case demonstrates that the doctor’s “depravity had no limits.”

In several hospital rooms, women suffering from surgeries and toddlers as young as two were observed by Dr. Oumair Aejaz, 40, according to a news statement from the County of Oakland Sheriff’s Office. He surveilled individuals in hospitals, a nearby swim club, closets, baths, and bedrooms.

Ten charges were brought against him: one offense of child sexual abuse; one count of creating and/or reproducing child sexual abuse content on a computer; four counts of photographing or filming minors under the age of eighteen and two women in their underwear. The amount of his bond is $2 million.

“In my extensive professional experience, this is among the most unsettling cases of sexual predators I have encountered,” Sheriff Michael Bouchard stated during a press conference on Thursday. He genuinely violates everyone and everything he comes across. From a 2-year-old child to an adult woman, his repulsive and predatory actions affect everyone.”

“Because there are so many of them,” he continued, the exact number of casualties is unknown.

Bouchard continued: “In the end, I sincerely hope that he is held completely responsible for his actions while incarcerated.”

During the press conference, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald stated, “These are kids and moms at a swim school.” “A doctor, who was well-respected in the community, was the one who harmed them.

At Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc Township and Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Aejaz was granted privileges. The two hospitals are assisting with the inquiry.

“We take these accusations very seriously and are disturbed by them. Henry Ford Macomb Hospital noted in a statement that “Although this person has privileges at multiple local hospitals, including Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, they have never worked for Henry Ford Health.”

“Our first concern is the safety of our patients and team members, therefore we’ve moved quickly to stop him from working for our healthcare system,” said the statement.

In a statement sent via email, an Ascension representative stated that the organization was aware of “the grave and alarming claims made against a doctor who practices medicine but is not employed by Ascension Genesys.”

“We have completely cut off the doctor’s access to our facilities because we take these accusations very seriously. We place the highest focus on the health and safety of our patients and staff, and we are fully assisting the authorities with their inquiry,” the statement stated.

After receiving a report regarding Aejaz’s actions on August 7, sheriff’s detectives raided his residence the following day and found 15 external storage devices, four cell phones, and six PCs.

One gadget alone had 13,000 movies from the past six years on it; investigators predict it will take at least half that long to thoroughly go through every device that was seized.

According to Detroit’s NBC station WDIV, Aejaz’s wife provided the tip.

According to the police, Aejaz arrived in the US in 2011 and was working there on a visa. He is originally from India. He is an internal medicine expert who moved to Dawson, Alabama, after completing his residency at Detroit Sinai Grace Hospital. In 2018, he made his way back to Oakland County.

According to Bouchard, the investigation’s scope could extend to neighboring states and potentially even foreign nations, in addition to the Genesee and Macomb Counties, where Aejaz was employed.
