Prior to being handcuffed and taken into custody on Thursday, country singer Zach Bryan obstructed an Oklahoma traffic stop on his security guard for speeding, according to police records.

Bryan, 27, apologized and started acknowledging his imprisonment on the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, starting on Thursday.

According to a probable cause affidavit detailing the arrest, Bryan said to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper during the stop, “I’ll go to jail, let’s do it,” and said that his detention was “why people do not like police officers.”

Bryan also warned the trooper, “These [expletive] cops are out of control,” and claimed it would be a mistake if he didn’t let him out of his shackles. The trooper pledged in the affidavit, “I promise.

The Highway Patrol released dashcam footage of the encounter near Vinita.

According to the affidavit, the security guard was stopped for speeding in an SUV at roughly 5:40 p.m.; initially at 78 mph in a 55 mph zone and again at 60 mph in a 35 mph zone when the SUV stopped.

The SUV was then stopped in a car wash parking lot when Bryan arrived in a black pickup, according to the trooper.

Bryan can be seen getting out of the truck on the dashcam video, and when the trooper approaches, he inquires as to why things are taking so long.

Bryan responds, “I’ll go to jail, let’s do it,” as the policeman orders him to stop meddling and get back in the truck. The performer is next handcuffed.

“I messed up today. In the video that was uploaded on X on Friday, Bryan added, “And my choices did not reflect who I was as a person.

Bryan stated on the video that he was upset because three days previously, in the same location, he had been stopped by a police officer for exceeding the speed limit by about 4 to 5 mph.

In that instance, Bryan said he didn’t want to provide the officer with his address because he is a musician; nevertheless, after being handcuffed, he eventually provided it and was released with a warning.

In the incident on Thursday, Bryan claimed he was on his way to Boston when he noticed his security guard had stopped. In his words, they were “too lippy” for the trooper.

After being handcuffed, Bryan is seen on the dashcam video telling the trooper, “I felt like a smartass, I shouldn’t have been, I apologize.”

Later, Bryan responds, “Sir, I hadn’t done anything wrong,” adding, “Actually, this is the second time it’s happened to me in three days. It’s obvious from the video that you police officers have treated me far too harshly.

The dashcam video appears to show the trooper telling Bryan that he has tried “every way” to speak with him but that all he has received in return is a negative attitude. As a response, Bryan says, “This is the 2nd time it’s occurred to me, I’m upset, and I’m sorry.”

The trooper is heard saying, “Well, it’s no wonder it occurs to you,” on the video.

Bryan apologized to each trooper and the second who showed up later after admitting in his video online X Friday that his actions were immature.

“All I ask is for everyone to understand that I don’t believe I am above the law. Bryan remarked, “I was just acting disrespectfully, and I shouldn’t have been. It was my error.

According to prison records, Bryan was arrested and placed in the Craig County jail before being freed after paying a $1,000 bond.
