Elon Musk, the owner of X and CEO of SpaceX, announced on Tuesday that he will be relocating both firms’ headquarters from California to Texas.
After California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) signed a new law on Tuesday prohibiting school districts from forcing parents to be informed of a child’s gender identity change, Musk promised to take the necessary action.
The last straw is this. SpaceX will now relocate its headquarters from Hawthorne, California to Starbase, Texas, due to this law and the numerous others that came before it that targeted families and businesses, Musk wrote on X. Later on, he said, “X HQ is moving from San Francisco to Austin as well.”
He continued, “I did convey to Governor Newsom about a year ago that these kinds of regulations would compel families and businesses to flee California in order to save their children.”
Elon Musk’s daughter, who was eighteen at the time, was given permission to legally change her name and gender in 2022, according to a People magazine article. She dropped the Musk family name and adopted her mother Justine Wilson’s maiden name.
In response to a question concerning his estranged transgender daughter in October 2022, Musk told the Financial Times that he “can’t win them all” and insisted that he was close to all of his other kids.
The corporate offices of Tesla, which Musk also serves as CEO of, were relocated to Austin in 2021 from Palo Alto, California.
Requests for more information were met with silence from SpaceX right away.
