Here’s to him getting it all. Lewis Capaldi received powerful aid from his fans at a concert in Germany on Tuesday (21 February) when his Tourette syndrome started affecting him mid-song.
The moment came as the Scottish singer was performing her No. 1 hit “Someone You Loved” to a packed crowd at her tour stop in Frankfurt. In fan-captured footage from the show, Capaldi is seen struggling with tics while singing, “And whenever it hurts I close my eyes / I fall into your arms / I fall into your voice You’ll be safe until I come, come back.”
From there, fans pick up on the song’s chorus, singing, “For now, the day flows into night / And you’re not here to make me do it all / I let my guard down and then you pulled up the rug.” / I was getting used to being someone you love” back at him collectively.
“We support you!! @LewisCapaldi,” the fan captioned the video on TikTok and the clip proved to be quite the human moment for people on the social platform. A follower wrote in the comments, “Human human sometimes can be very healing for.”
Capaldi originally opened up about his Tourette syndrome on Instagram Live, telling his fans, “The worst thing about it is that when I’m excited, I get giddy; When I’m stressed, I understand; When I’m happy, I get it. It happens all the time. Some days it is more painful than others and some days it is less painful. It looks worse than it is. Sometimes it’s quite uncomfortable… but it comes and goes.”
