In the second quarter of the Seahawks’ convincing victory against the Giants on Monday night, quarterback Geno Smith suffered a knee injury and had to exit the game.

Smith was able to return to the game, helping the Seahawks win 24-3, and he seems to have avoided significant injury, which is fortunate for the team and its Pro Bowl quarterback.

After the game, Smith remarked, “I’m feeling better, feeling better.” Undoubtedly a bad scenario, but I feel much better.

Smith sustained the injury while attempting to sprint after catching a batted pass. He was then yanked to the ground as he stepped out of bounds, with the defender landing on the backs of Smith’s legs.

He explained that he had been rolling up after simply sprinting out of bounds. Simply a bad circumstance… Because I had been rolled up on and had essentially had my leg pinned beneath the other person, I was initially a little in shock. Despite a little discomfort, I was relieved to be unharmed.

Pete Carroll, the Seahawks’ head coach, claimed that Smith had “kind of twisted his knee just a bit” and would benefit from Seattle’s Week 5 off.

Carroll added, “It was actually knee and ankle at first, but after they taped him up on the ankle, his knee was a little bit sore—he might be sore tomorrow.” He needs a break, I think.

Jamal Adams, who suffered a concussion in the game—his first since the season opener last season—after absorbing a knee to the head while making a tackle in the first quarter, will benefit from the bye week as well.

Carroll said, “He’ll be fine. He missed this game due to a head injury, but I’m sure he’ll be well and return to the field after the preparation to get him there in the upcoming week. So, for now, it’s simply a little problem.

He will be okay. Despite the frustrating beginning, the work he put in to get here has prepared him for the next time. He will play a significant role in our efforts.

Damien Lewis (ankle) and Phil Haynes (calf) were both lost as starters for the Seahawks due to injuries. Haynes was replaced by a rookie, Anthony Bradford, and after Lewis was injured, center Evan Brown switched to left guard, and a rookie, Olu Oluwatimi, took over at center.

Carroll remarked, “Phil, it was his calf again from a few weeks ago. We intended to rotate (Bradford) in there in order to avoid overusing (Haynes), but we simply didn’t get to it before it faltered.

Carroll had no other information other than to say that Lewis “got a twisted ankle.”

Jarran Reed, the Seahawks’ nose tackle, had to leave the game late due to a shin injury, but Carroll predicted that Reed would recover after the bye.

He received a kick to the shin, and Carroll stated that it “kind of blew up on him a little bit.” It’s not damaged or anything like that, though. For the following few days, he’ll be rather sore, but everything will be fine.
