Calling all American Idiots: Green Day will join Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and the Linda Lindas on a stadium tour in 2024.
The major announcement was made by Billie Joe Armstrong and company on Thursday night during a private performance at Fremont Country Club in Las Vegas, where they also unveiled a brand-new song called “The American Dream Is Killing Me,” which Armstrong described as “the first song off our new album.”
The tour will begin in the United States, according to a flier distributed at the concert, and it will include the following message for the U.K. and the rest of Europe: “You’re next.”
Regarding their impending album and tour, Green Day hasn’t provided any additional information, and their representatives declined to speak further.
The quartet performed on Thursday night to prepare for this weekend’s When We Were Young music event, which they are co-headlining with Blink-182. They played “Oh Love” and “Last Night on Earth” as well as every song from their popular album Dookie, whose 30th-anniversary edition was released last month, at the tiny Fremont Country Club event.
The Deluxe Edition for Dookie’s 30th Anniversary contains live performances, outtakes, and unreleased demos. Observe Green Day’s rendition of “The American Dream Is Killing Me” in the video clip above.
