Harvey Weinstein, the convicted and imprisoned former Hollywood movie mogul, was admitted to the hospital for a “myriad of health conditions” and tested positive for both double pneumonia and Covid-19, according to a spokesman.
According to Craig Rothfeld, Weinstein’s representative and prison counselor, he was brought to the Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward.
Records from the New York Corrections Department also indicate that Weinstein, 72, resides at Bellevue.
“He continues to suffer from a number of ailments on a daily basis, including spinal stenosis, diabetes, high blood pressure, fluid buildup in his lungs and heart, and other ailments,” according to Rothfeld, are the reasons Weinstein was brought to the hospital.
“Furthermore, Mr. Weinstein developed double pneumonia in his lungs and tested positive for COVID-19,” Rothfeld stated.
Weinstein was found guilty of sex charges in both New York and Los Angeles; in the Los Angeles case, he received a 16-year jail sentence. Weinstein was found guilty of rape in 2020 and given a 23-year sentence in New York. However, in April, a state appellate court reversed the conviction, finding that the judge had erred in permitting women to speak about unrelated charges.
