Hoda Kotb returned to co-anchoring NBC’s “Today” show after a two-week absence, explaining to viewers that her daughter had a health issue.
At the top of Monday’s show, Hoda Kotb said her three-year-old daughter, Hope, had been in the hospital for “a little over a week,” including being in the ICU for “a few days.” She did not disclose the specific health problem of her daughter.
“I am so grateful that she is home. She is back home,” said a choked Kotb. “I have been waiting for that day to come, and we are watching her closely. I am happy
Hoda Kotb’s co-anchor, Savannah Guthrie, also returned to the morning show on Monday after leaving mid-show last week due to a Covid-19 diagnosis. Hoda Kotb thanked Guthrie for his support and thanked the doctors and nurses at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York.
Hoda Kotb told Guthrie, “I’m grateful for my family and grateful for friends like you who were there every day.” “I want to say thank you for this. I love you.”
“I love you too,” Guthrie said. “You have a lot of friends.”
Hoda Kotb has not appeared live on “Today” since February 17. In addition to hosting the 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., she also co-hosts the 10 a.m. with Jenna Bush Hager.
