Houston shooting leaves a pregnant woman, 21, dead and four others injured

In the early Saturday morning shooting in Houston, four individuals were hurt in addition to a pregnant lady, 21, who was slain, according to authorities.

According to Assistant Chief Ernest Garcia of the Houston Police Department, officers were dispatched to Margaret Jenkins Park at about 1:18 a.m. after receiving numerous reports of gunfire using shot spotter technology.

Multiple groups were present when an altercation broke out, according to a preliminary report, and “people started firing their firearms,” Garcia said. 36 rounds were fired, according to the shot spotter technology.

Five persons in total were hurt during the shooting. Police say the 21-year-old lady was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Three of the four unaccounted-for casualties were transferred to a nearby hospital, and one “had a cuts wound to the body,” according to Garcia. The conditions of all four victims remain stable.

None of the victims have been named by the police.

Officers are looking into if there are any further suspects after detaining two in connection with the incident.

The inquiry is still ongoing.
