Not much about the Miami Heat‘s victory over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night was very pleasing.

In fact, a lot of supporters were upset when they saw the club barely overcome the side that finished last in the league the previous season. The thrilling Miami basketball of the previous season was demonstrated by the Heat’s 103-102 victory.

Not to mention that many of the team’s games are too close for comfort, the Heat’s admin page captioned the final score post with “Heat basketball is back” In the fourth quarter, the Heat led by 19 points, but that lead quickly vanished and was down to just one.

While scoring 57 points between them, Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro only shot 36 percent from the field as a team. Together, Duncan Robinson and Kevin Love scored 28 points on 6 of 11 three-point attempts, demonstrating their strong play. Nevertheless, some found it disappointing that the Heat’s Big Three shot so poorly.

Guard Cade Cunningham of the Pistons, meanwhile, scored 30 points on 48 percent shooting and appeared to have anything he wanted from the floor all night. Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart added a combined 31 points and 28 rebounds.

Even though it’s just the first game of the year, Miami should learn a lot from this one. When they play the Boston Celtics on Friday night, they must play at their best.
