In a possible murder-suicide in New York City, two adults and two young children were killed

Four people were discovered dead in a New York City apartment on Monday, including two young children, according to authorities.

The four were identified by police as Edison Lopez, age 41; Alexandra Witek, age 40; Lucien Lopez, age 3, and Calvin Lopez, age 1. Because of how much blood was on his body, Lucien was initially mistaken for a girl, a police source told.

According to authorities, the 1-year-old was found with wounds all over his body, the 3-year-old was found with trauma to the torso, and the adults both had injuries to their necks.

Police said on Monday, “I’m not sure how those injuries were sustained.” “That is a subject of an ongoing inquiry. Although not officially determined, it may have been a murder-suicide.

In light of the ongoing investigation, police declined to comment on Tuesday on the identity of the alleged attacker or the whereabouts of the victims inside the home. According to a spokeswoman, police had never received a 911 call about the house before a relative on Monday asked for a wellness check.

Officers were barred out of the apartment, a fourth-floor Upper West Side residence in Manhattan, when they arrived at the scene soon before 3 p.m., according to the police department.

According to authorities, New York fire men assisted them in breaking into the house so they could reach the victims. At the site, emergency workers pronounced all four of them dead.

A few blocks from Central Park, the man allegedly worked as the building’s superintendent, according to his neighbors.

According to neighbor Jeff Kimmel, “He kept things in check, he was trustworthy, as a super.” “I’m telling you, we all thought he was great.”

There were found three knives. There were no reported arrests, and no suspects were given a name. Detectives and a medical examiner combed over the evidence in the flat late Monday, but an official cause of death had still not been established.
