James Harden, a guard for the Philadelphia 76ers, was penalized $100,000 by the NBA for comments he made about his situation with the organization and the public.
On August 14 and August 17, Harden stated in the media that he would not provide the services required under his player contract until he was dealt to another team. As part of its inquiry, the league spoke with Harden, who verified that his remarks alluded to his perception that the 76ers would reject his request for a trade.
Harden exercised his player option for the upcoming season in June, but the 76ers have been unable to reach an agreement, which has infuriated Harden. At a promotional event in China, he made several statements, including calling 76ers president Daryl Morey a liar.
At the gathering, Harden declared, “Daryl Morey is a liar and that I will never be a part of the organization that he is a part of.” “Let me repeat that: Daryl Morey is a liar, and I will never join a group that he belongs to.”
With three scoring titles and the 2018 league MVP, Harden has been among the league’s best players for the past ten years. Last year, he had the most assists in the league. However, he has yet to claim an NBA championship, and time is running out as he turns 34 this week.
