In Week 13, the Jets won’t be changing quarterbacks again.

Tim Boyle will continue as the starting quarterback for New York in their upcoming game against the Falcons, head coach Robert Saleh informed reporters on Saturday morning.

via team transcripts: “Yeah, we’re giving Timmy another chance to roll next week.”

Boyle completed 27 of 38 passes for 179 yards in the Jets’ Black Friday loss to the Dolphins. He threw two interceptions in the first half, including a backbreaking hail-mary pick-six that Dolphins cornerback Jevon Holland returned 99 yards for a touchdown. He did, however, have one touchdown late in the game.

“Obviously, there are areas where he could have done more effectively, there are things that he has no control and yet I know he battled out there,” Saleh continued. “Some of the calls we wanted to take we were able to complete. Although many of the various things we intended to do could not be fully realized, we were still able to carry them out.”

After Gang Green failed to score more than one touchdown in their Week 11 loss to the Bills, Boyle was named the new quarterback and made his debut for the Jets. Since Aaron Rodgers went down with an Achilles injury, Zach Wilson had been the clear choice to start for the previous nine games. However, he was replaced in the third quarter of that match by Boyle.

Saleh then declared the official switch at quarterback, effective Friday, the following day.

Although Trevor Siemian was named New York’s backup quarterback on Friday, Saleh did not disclose the composition of the quarterback depth chart behind Boyle against Atlanta. Wilson was not in play, but he was a backup quarterback in case something happened to him.

Following a difficult opening game, New York will continue to use Boyle for an additional week in the hopes of achieving a better result than it did on Friday.

Next Sunday, the Jets will host the Falcons in an attempt to snap their current four-game losing streak.
