Bronny James is up for grabs.

At Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Wednesday night, the NBA Draft’s first round passed without mentioning the son of LeBron James.

The younger James, whose meager basketball history includes one season at the University of Southern California, when he scored 4.8 points per game in 25 games, largely coming off the bench, could be chosen by a team on Thursday, with a decision between No. 31 and 58.

The younger James’ short college career got off to a delayed start when, on July 24, he fell and went into cardiac arrest at USC after a practice. The younger James was cleared to resume playing after it was discovered that he had a congenital cardiac condition that could be repaired, according to his family.

However, Bronny James was sidelined after his heart scare and didn’t return to action until Southern Cal’s ninth game of the year.

LeBron James, who has played for the Los Angeles Lakers since 2018–19, has until this Saturday to make up his mind.

The all-time greatest scorer in the NBA has openly discussed playing alongside his kid for a long time, but he has recently played down that generational ambition.

Over the years, NBA fans have witnessed a number of father-son teams, most notably the shooting tandem of Steph Curry and Dell, but none of them have played together.

Thus, theoretically, Bronny James’ father could be listening to a team that selects or signs him.

Lebron James is still one of the most dynamic players in the game, astonishingly, even at the advanced age of 39 in basketball.

He’s even become a respectable 3-point shooter in recent years, making 41% of his attempts this past season. That was better than the 36.6% league average and even better than Curry’s 40.8% downtown efficiency.

The Lakers, who now employ Lebron James, pick at No. 55.

Teams having second-round picks include the Utah Jazz (at No. 32), Golden State Warriors (52), Los Angeles Clippers (46), Portland Trail Blazers (34 and 40), Sacramento Kings (45), and the 2023 champion Denver Nuggets (56), should the elder James decide to sign a free agent contract and stay closer to Southern California.
