According to court documents, a man from the Kansas City region who is accused of killing his sick wife told police he was unable to care for her or pay her medical expenses.

It took some time for the public defender’s office to return a phone message.

His wife was receiving a new port for her dialysis on Friday when the employees at Independence’s Centerpoint Medical Center deemed her unresponsive, resulting in a “code blue.”

Although medical personnel were able to restore her pulse, they concluded that she was brain dead and began the process of removing her organs, as stated in the probable cause statement. On Saturday, his spouse passed away.

Wiggs departed the hospital following the attack. However, the statement claimed that Wiggs confessed when his mother’s son took him back to visit her. According to the statement, staff heard him repeat, “I did it, I killed her, I choked her.”

After that, he was taken into custody and testified before a detective that he had covered his wife’s mouth and nose to stop her from yelling. He claimed he was sad and unable to manage the finances and caregiving.

According to the statement, he also said that while his wife was in a recovery center, he tried to kill her, but she awoke and warned him not to do so. He said that because his wife was connected to multiple monitors, he was unable to attempt her murder during her hospital stay.
