Following Olivier Giroud‘s heroics against Genoa in the Rossoneri’s 1-0 away victory on Saturday, AC Milan has announced they will start selling goalie jerseys that can be personalized with the French striker’s name and number on the back.

After Mike Maignan was dismissed and all five of coach Stefano Pioli’s replacements had been used, Giroud was compelled to take over in goal.

A statement from Milan read: “Last night, Olivier Giroud made Milan history by valiantly defending the AC Milan goal in the dying seconds of the Rossoneri’s game against Genoa.

“The Club has chosen to honor his performance in its final line of defense by adding him to the list of goalkeepers,” it said. Additionally, supporters may now buy the goalkeeper’s jersey and add the name “Giroud 9” to it.

Giroud’s goalkeeping effort was highlighted in the final seconds of the contest when France‘s all-time leading scorer valiantly charged out to deny George Puscas a clear chance to tie the score.

After the game, the 37-year-old shared a photo of himself wearing Maignan’s shirt on social media with the remark, “For you Magic Mike. The shut-out Giroud.
