Hoda and Jenna respond to criticism directed at Olivia Culpo's wedding gown: "You are not going to win"

The wedding dress that model and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo wore on June 29 to formally tie the knot with NFL player Christian McCaffrey has divided the internet.

The two got involved in the discussion on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna, supporting Culpo and denouncing “trolls” who made disparaging remarks about the garment on the internet.

“Why does it seem like anyone can make comments about her outfit? “She appears stunning,” Jenna remarked on July 9. “They were in their basement, saying things like, You can’t win, she’s too covered up.”

Dolce and Gabbana created the long-sleeved white gown with a full A-line skirt, which Culpo called “the dress of my dreams” on Instagram.

Hoda and Jenna called the garment “very classic,” and Culpo agreed in an Instagram post that Vogue published on June 29.

“I wanted it to seem classic, carefree, and to enhance rather than overshadow me,” Culpo stated to Vogue. “In no way, shape, or form did I want to emanate sex.”

“Yet, I suppose opinions on it were split on the internet. We believe she looks stunning,” Jenna remarked.

Additionally, McCaffrey defended his wife by replying to fashion influencer Kennedy Bingham, who had attacked the wedding dress selection in an Instagram video.

Oh, what a wicked thing to publish online. The NFL player stated, “I want you could experience happiness and contentment in life, just like my stunning spouse does,” in the comments of the Instagram video that Bingham, who goes by the handle Gown Eyed Girl on social media, posted on July 2. Bingham talks about fashion.

“This outfit lacks personality,” Bingham said in her video, criticizing Culpo for “promoting her notion of the ideal appearance for all brides.”

But other Instagram users didn’t waste any time defending Culpo in the comments section and denouncing Bingham for her “highly distasteful” reply.

Sad to see someone being criticized on one of their happiest days of life on a platform with such a wide following. @oliviaculpo looks amazing,” a person commented on Instagram.

“Do not say a word if you are incapable of saying anything kind. She has the day, not you. She looks gorgeous,” someone else said.
