Come on in, losers; we’re having fun.
It goes without saying that Tuesday is “Mean Girls Day.”
You could wonder how that day came to be. Well, there’s a scene in the well-known 2004 movie where Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) is asked what day it is by Aaron Samuels (played by Jonathan Bennett) in class.
She replies, “October 3.”
“Mean Girls Day” was therefore established.
To celebrate, Paramount has released the film on TikTok for free in 23 parts.
The movie has gained cult status and even inspired a musical, which will also be turned into a movie next year.
The “Mean Girls” movie and musical were both created by Tina Fey, who is most known for her work as a writer and performer on “Saturday Night Live,” “30 Rock,” and other shows. She is also celebrating the “holiday” by doing something special.
The script of “Mean Girls the Musical” that Fey is auctioning off comes “complete with her own handwritten notes & sketches in the margins, expressing her thoughts and ideas from the making of both the original film and the musical.”
A sketch of Mrs. June George, played by Amy Poehler in the movie, with the remark “Amy Poehler was iconic!” will be included for those who purchase the screenplay. Other scribbled comments by Fey include “You’re nearly done reading this” and “Jesus Christ this script is long.”
She is only one of several A-listers from Hollywood, Broadway, and the West End who have donated first editions of their works, including the original “Love Actually” script by Richard Curtis and a rare, annotated copy of “The Vagina Monologues” by V (formerly Eve Ensler).
TheauctionCollective.com is hosting the auction for Fey’s script through October 6.
