More than 3 million automobiles made by Hyundai and Kia are being recalled because of potential electrical shorts that might cause the engines to catch fire while the cars are parked or being driven.
Both businesses urge owners of the impacted cars to park their vehicles outside and away from any buildings or other structures until repairs can be done due to the potential for fire. The brake control unit of the cars, which is subject to both recalls, is prone to fluid leakage.
Almost 92,000 Kia and Hyundai vehicles were recalled a few weeks ago owing to electrical controllers that could overheat and catch fire.
