Over the past few seasons, Paul George of the LA Clippers and Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns have engaged in a number of heated exchanges. The majority of these have occurred on the court, but earlier this offseason, when Booker called George out for a query he made to Klay Thompson on Podcast P, things took a turn off the court. The Suns star called George out on Instagram because he thought he was attempting to provoke Thompson into saying something negative about Booker. George then responded on a Twitch video.
When discussing this dispute with Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report, George said, “I don’t know where it took the turn. When we played Phoenix, things became heated. Conversations started, and that is where it originated. Once more, this is a respect line. Devin and I have a terrific relationship; he was my little brother before he joined the league. Then, all of a sudden, the temperature shifted to the point where there was now a line that had been crossed. Thus, the situation is what it is at this time.
George reaffirmed that Thompson’s response was final and that it stood as his response. George was merely posing a query to the Warriors guard without any particular request in mind. But again, [Booker] took it upon himself to be seen or heard at that very moment, George said as he explained this to Rooks. Cool. It is now what it is.
