A house fire in a remote location northeast of Seattle claimed the lives of three people, and police said they are searching for a pickup truck that was left unaccounted for after the fire.
According to a statement from the Mount Vernon Police Department, the little community of Concrete saw a fire on Friday morning that completely destroyed a two-story residence.
On Monday, the police said that the three victims had been found, however, recovery attempts had been hampered by significant damage to the scene.
Once each victim has been identified, the identities will be made public by the Skagit County Medical Examiner. According to the police, one of the victims was a Skagit County employee. They confirmed that the individual did not work for the county sheriff’s office but did not offer any further information.
Several organizations, including the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, are still processing the fire site, according to police. The reason was still unclear.
At 10:25 a.m. on Friday, authorities were called to the scene of the fire. Authorities reported that while a number of dead had been found, the collapsed structure may make it necessary to recover them over several days.
In order to find a blue 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck that has gone missing from the fire site, investigators are asking the public for assistance. They have asked witnesses or anybody with additional pertinent information to contact Mount Vernon police. It was unclear how the truck and the fire were related.
About 96 miles (154 kilometers) to the northeast of Seattle is the town of Concrete.
