“May her memory be a blessing,” the message said.

The Detroit Free Press reports that police are looking into the incident but have not yet determined a motive. According to a police statement acquired by the neighborhood newspaper, Woll was discovered unconscious and lying on the ground.

Police discovered a blood trail that led to her house, where they suspect the crime was committed. At the scene, she was pronounced deceased.

Woll was connected to influential local Democrats. She formerly worked for Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin and supported Attorney General Dana Nessel’s bid for reelection.

Sam was the most kind-hearted guy I’ve ever met, according to Nessel.

“She was motivated by her genuine love for her neighborhood, state, and nation. Sam genuinely made the world a better place for everyone by combining her activism and spirituality.
