Although Priscilla Presley was initially absent from the press conference for Sofia Coppola’s biographical drama regarding her relationship together with Elvis Presley, she suddenly entered the audience when the question of how it felt to have her life shown on screen was posed.

As tears welled in her eyes, Priscilla Presley said, “It’s really hard to sit and watch a film of you, of your life, of your love.” Sofia did a fantastic job, she said after pausing to gather herself. We had a few conversations, she completed her homework, and I did everything I could to help her.

Elvis Presley and Priscilla’s connection is shown in the movie “Priscilla,” which stars Cailee Spaeny in the title character and Jacob Elordi as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Priscilla first met Elvis when she was just 14 years old. Priscilla matures and discovers her voice as she is sucked into his world. She emphasized, nonetheless, that Elvis did not exploit her youth during the press conference.

My parents found it very challenging to comprehend why Elvis would be so interested in me, she said. I was more of a listener, so I really do think. In Germany, Elvis would open up to me about everything that was on his mind, including his anxieties, his hopes, and the loss of his mother, which he would never, ever get over. And I was the one who genuinely sat down to listen to him and soothe him. We truly did connect over that. I actually appeared a little bit older in life than I was in terms of my age, which was only 14. That was the allure. Many people assume “Oh, it was sex.” Not at all, no.

I never got intimate with him. He was incredibly kind, gentle, and kind, but he also understood that I was just 14 years old. Because of this, our relationship was more compatible.

I didn’t understand why he had such faith in me, but he did, she continued. And I never, ever, ever revealed to anyone that I was seeing him. He loved the idea that I never abandoned him in any way. I didn’t let anyone know I was seeing him at school. As a result, we developed a relationship that lasted till my departure.

And it wasn’t because I didn’t love him; he had been the love of my life. For me, the lifestyle was quite challenging, and I believe that is something that all women can identify with. We yet kept a tight bond despite this. Of course, we also had a daughter, so I made sure he saw her constantly. It appeared as though we had never been apart.

Coppola also talked about navigating how young Priscilla looked when she met Elvis earlier in the press conference. She recalled having a crush on an older man who was a rock star when she was that age. I simply put myself in her shoes.

A24 will release “Priscilla” in theaters on October 27.
