Caleb Farley, a cornerback for the Tennessee Titans, owned the home that exploded Monday night in North Carolina, killing his parent and injuring another.
According to Kent Green, Director of Fire Services & Emergency Management for Iredell County, Farley’s father, Robert M. Farley, 61, was reportedly discovered by first responders in a bedroom area of the house in Mooresville, a Charlotte suburb, as The Tennessean of the USA TODAY Network reported.
A Titans representative informed the publication that Farley, 24, was not inside the house when it erupted.
The 6,391-square-foot house is completely destroyed, according to Iredell County Emergency Management.
Property records show that in 2022 Farley paid $2.05 million for the four-bedroom, four-bath house.
Numerous local agencies are investigating the blast
Following a report of an explosion and a house collapsing, first responders were dispatched to the residence, according to emergency management.
Responders reported that a victim with non-life-threatening injuries had been transported to a hospital in Charlotte. While sifting through the wreckage, rescuers discovered another person who had died. Farley’s father was eventually revealed to be the victim.

The Iredell County Fire Marshal’s Office, the NC State Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are among the local agencies looking into the explosion’s cause.
An explosion that happened at a “customer’s residence,” according to utility service Dominion Energy, is also being looked into.
Dominion Energy continued, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the people affected by this tragic situation.
Derrick Henry and Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel have expressed support for Farley
In the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Farley, a native of Maiden, North Carolina, was selected with the No. 22 overall pick. Before being put on injured reserve in 2022, he participated in nine games.
The most crucial thing, according to Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, is that we do all in our power to support him emotionally.
Derrick Henry, a running back with the Titans, stated, “Just praying for Caleb.” We lingered in the locker room yesterday night and were likely the last people there. The news just broke to us. I’m sending him and his family my prayers.
2018 saw the breast cancer death of Farley’s mother, Robin Farley.
