After a shooting broke out near a rapper Sexyy Red music video set in Florida on Thursday night, one person was killed and another was sent to the hospital.

Just before 8 o’clock in the evening, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a shooting in the 3100 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard close to the Oakland Park Flea Market.

Two victims were discovered by deputies with apparent gunshot wounds. While the other was taken to a hospital for treatment, one person was declared dead at the scene. They kept their identities a secret.

According to the sheriff’s office, the shooting started “near a video shoot being filmed in the area,” and detectives were looking into whether the two incidents were connected.

In a statement posted to Instagram, Sexyy Red said: “I send sympathies to the family of the man that lost his life & prayers up for the person that was wounded.”

To be clear, it took place at the petrol station that is across from my video shoot. It was confirmed by the Florida Highway Patrol & Broward County Sheriff that the incident didn’t take place on my set,” she stated.

However, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office, an investigation is ongoing.

“At a different location, we wrapped up the shoot, and everyone from our set made it home without incident. Period,” she continued.

On Billboard’s new list that measures a song’s performance on TikTok, the 25-year-old St. Louis rapper’s “SkeeYee” is presently at the top. Along with being nominated for Greatest Breakthrough Artist at the BET Hip Hop Awards, she was just announced as the opening for Drake’s upcoming tour.

Call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS if you have any information about the incident.
