On Wednesday, October 4, at the Billboard Latin Music Week 2023 event in Miami’s Oasis Club, Nathy Peluso continued to exude her unrivaled swagger and poetic grit. Nathy was on fire throughout the whole show, blazing through sensual bachata, brass-powered salsa, compelling rap, and even a cover of “Vivir As Es Morir De Amor” by Camilo Sesto. The singer sang “Ateo,” “Alabame,” and her most recent single, “Ella Tiene,” while wearing a denim dress, black leather boots, and a cut-up T-shirt.
Young Miko, the opening act and Latin Rookie of the Year according to Billboard, arrived full of self-assurance while sporting a vintage black Marilyn Monroe T-shirt with pink writing that read, “Hollywood Is Hell.” She played her top songs, including “Lisa,” “Wiggy,” “Riri,” and the reggaeton track “Chulo Pt. 2,” among others. One of the audience members gave the Puerto Rican performer a pair of pink underwear midway through her performance of the smooth trap smash “Big Booty.” As she moved across the stage, she took it up and began spinning it.
Both performers participated in the Boys No More! the panel earlier this week together with Nicki Nicole, Kany Garca, Mara Becerra, and GALE. “It was a struggle to create a space for myself when I started rapping because there weren’t many women on the scene,” Nathy remarked during the conversation. We’ve come a long way since then, and I appreciate what my sisters do now.
“I found out we [Kany Garca and I] were from the same [LGBTQ+] community, and it made me feel comfortable to speak with my mother,” remarked young Miko. Thank God, things are changing now. There are people who are more open-minded and who want change in the world.
Celebrated for more than 30 years, the 2023 edition of Latin Music Week consisted of a Superstar Q&A with Shakira; the Legends on Legends chat alongside Chencho Corleone and Vico C; Making the Hit Live! with Carin León and Pedro Capó; a panel with RBD’s Christian Chávez, Christopher von Uckermann, as well as Maite Perroni; Superstar Songwriter discussion with Edgar Barrera plus Keityn, among many other panels, Q&As and workshops. Peso Pluma, Mike Baha, Greeicy, DannyLux, and Fonseca, to name a few, were among the artists who performed at this year’s Latin Music Week.
AT&T, Cheetos, CN Bank, Delta Air Lines, Lexus, Netflix, Michelob ULTRA, and Smirnoff are some of the official sponsors of the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Week.
