According to a news release from the Department of Justice, a 37-year-old man from Tennessee was accused for allegedly making threats on social media against former President Barack Obama, Vice President Kamala Harris, and President Joe Biden.

On Tuesday, Kyl Alton Hall was indicted on one count of posing a threat to a previous president and two charges of threatening a sitting president or vice president. According to the DOJ, there may be a five-year jail sentence for each charge.

According to authorities, social networking platform X is where the threats first appeared. Threatening to “kill, assassinate, shoot, and crash the plane” of Biden was apparently the man from the Memphis area. In addition, he made threats to kill Obama and Harris.

The case was looked into by the US Secret Service, and the local US attorney’s office’s national security and civil rights team will be handling the prosecution.

A request for comment from a Secret Service representative was not immediately answered.

The accusations were made the same week that Biden, Harris, and Obama spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where Harris also accepted her party’s presidential nomination.
