The Last Resort is coming in, the Wilds are going out. Today marks the start of Fortnite’s newest season, bringing the battle royale game towards Chapter 4: Season 4. As was hinted at yesterday, this new release has a heist theme. But not just any heist—this time, a new individual has granted the island access to a number of expensive sites.

Here is a brief summary of the modifications and fresh lore (Fortnite does have lore):

In Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 4 Season 4, the vampire Kado Thorne made the Island his home. He has used the Island’s wealth and treasures to finance some opulent real estate, including Sanguine Suites, Relentless Retreat, & Eclipsed Estate. Heist items from Thorne’s properties to recover what is rightfully the Island’s, and more crucially, to foil Thorne’s grand scheme. Thievery is the last option when the future of the Island is at stake. Are you in then?

As usual, the outcome is a slightly revised map that appears as follows:

The heist concept is accompanied by a number of related gameplay adjustments. With new equipment, such as the Rocket Ram, which allows you to shoot out of the building after you have the goods, you can sneak into any one of the new locations to plunder strong things. Even heist bags, which resemble chests but exclusively carry equipment for heists, exist. A briefcase that, when tossed to the ground, transforms into a turret is my favorite addition. Additionally, the island is now covered in towers from which you may gather information about upcoming storm movements.

Additionally, there are several new characters to be unlocked for those who buy the battle pass for this season. Ahsoka from Star Wars, Khaby Lame, a very ripped fish by the name of Fish Thicc, and the new vampire are among them. This is the entire cast:

Although Fortnite has experimented with heist themes before, this one looks the most comprehensive so far. It also represents a significant stylistic departure from the jungle theme of the previous season, which was famous for its partnerships with Futurama, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Nike.
