White House officials announced on Wednesday that President Joe Biden will address the nation on Thursday night during prime time with a speech on foreign policy.
The administration’s response to the terrorist attacks by Hamas against Israel and Russia’s war in Ukraine will be discussed during the Oval Office address, which is slated to begin at 8 p.m. ET. In response to the extensive attack carried out by Hamas terrorists this month, Biden traveled to Tel Aviv on Wednesday and vowed his support for Israel.
Biden stated in remarks made there following a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that “Israel was born to be a safe place for the Jewish people in the world.”
Israel “must again be a safe place for the Jewish people,” he said, adding that the U.S. would “do everything in our power” to ensure that it is. “While it may not feel that way today,” he said.
Additionally, he emphasized the distinction between Hamas and the Palestinians, who he claimed were “suffering greatly.”
“Hamas is not supported by the great majority of Palestinians. He asserted that Hamas does not speak for the Palestinian people. “Hamas places its command posts, arsenals, and communication tunnels in residential areas in Gaza, using innocent families as human shields.”
